The Tempest
It had been sunny, calm, hot; a summer Sunday’s early evening. I walked around the yard, contemplating the rosebushes. After a few minutes a horsefly hounded me inside. “Get to work!” it insisted.
I went up to my office. Post-It notes flew as I spat out my thoughts in hopes of finding the important ones among the yellow bones.
The sky grew dark. The room grew dark.
An emotion grew in my chest. Left side. Fear. “Pay attention to me!”
I acquiesced; went to lie down and work on the emotion, not the problem before me. The tempest cut loose, rain smacking the roof in high resolution stereo; left to right, right to left, overlapping, folding. Lightning and a quick thunder punch.
What’s behind this emotion? I wondered. No, not the problem. Stop trying to solve the problem! Understand the fear! What’s behind the fear?
The tempest raged and reached it’s full power. What’s behind the fear?
Oh.
RAGE!
You’re afraid to express your rage!
Yes. The fear turned to glee. To excitement. The tempest quieted itself. The sun returned.

This is powerful and poetic.
